Breast Cancer Awareness Message From Judy Kenworthy
I am participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day. This is a marathon walking event that supports breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment through the "Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund". This marathon is a 60 mile walk over the course of three days. Thousands of women and men will be walking in this event.
The criteria for participating in this event is that each walker must raise at least $2,200 in donations. Of course, more is gladly accepted. My personal goal is to raise $2,500.
I am writing to ask if you would kindly contribute to this very worthy cause. Could you please consider making a donation of $50.00, or whatever you feel you can contribute? Donations can be made online at Breast Cancer 3 Day, (detailed steps for using this web site are available at the end of this letter), or you can call 1.800.996.3DAY to donate over the phone.
Walking in this "3Day" event is of very special importance to me. I lost my maternal grandmother to breast cancer when I was very young. I never really got to know her, but have been told all my life about how special she was, and about traits we shared. I like to think that we might have been "two peas in a pod", if she had lived. My "aunt" Kathy has survived breast cancer; and, my brother's lady's mom is currently undergoing radiation for lumps that were removed from her breasts. These dear ladies lived because of the advancements of breast cancer research. I truly want that research to forge ahead, and I want to help in any way I can. I can't make a large donation, but I can walk 60 miles, and you can walk with me by helping with your donation. Please, let's walk together to conquer this insidious disease! Please help me make this happen! With increased research, perhaps one day no one will have to face this disease.
If you have someone you would like to honor in this walk, please send me a picture. I will put the picture on my personal "3Day" web page, and screen the picture onto the T-shirts that I am creating for the walk! My personal "3Day" web page is the same web page where you will make a donation.
According to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, more than 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. I hope you'll share with me this incredible opportunity to make a difference by supporting my fundraising efforts.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Sincerely,
Judy Kenworthy
P.S. Please consider asking your employer if they will increase your donation through a matching gift program.
