SOUTH FORK Pictures

The following pictures are of the crew boat SOUTH FORK. I was only on the boat for two days, so all of the pictures are of the interior, or at the dock of the Coastal Crewboats facility in Delcambre, LA.

The details of why I was on the boat for only two days is covered in the DREAM AWAY Update 15-Aug-2011 , so I will not go into more detail here. Let me just say that the SOUTH FORK is a very comfortable boat to live on, and well laid out work boat.

The crew boat SOUTH FORK is a Camcraft boat that was built in 1970. She is an all aluminum deep V hull that is 77 feet long, and has a gross tonnage of 78 tons. She is USCG inspected to carry 30 passengers and has a cargo space that is 20 feet X 15 feet. She is powered by two Detroit 12-71 turbo charged diesel engines, each developing 675 HP, She is capable of 20 Knots, but that speed all depends on cargo, passengers, and the weather. She has on board a 20 KW generator, and has a 1000 gallon fuel capacity, and a 2500 gallon water capacity.

The SOUTH FORK is presently at the Coastal Crewboats facility in Delcambre, LA.

The pictures of the SOUTH FORK start in the crew's quarters, which are forward under the wheelhouse. There ia a freezer located in the crew's quarters for additional provision storage. The shower is located in the crew's quarters, across from the crew's bunks. There is a lounge in the crew's quarters with a table and two bench seats for four crew. From the crew's quarters you climb a ladder to the wheelhouse. The wheelhouse is where all of the instruments are contained, and where the boat is steered. From the wheelhouse you head aft, down three steps to the main cabin. This area has seating and bunks for passengers and also has a TV and a DVD player. Further aft, to starboard, is a pantry, coffee service, galley, and the head. From the main cabin aft on the port side is a passenger lounge, a small work area and storage, and the refrigerator/freezer. From this area going aft, you step up and out onto the cargo area deck, with the engine room under the cargo area.
